Relative cell voltages as an indicator of balance and state of health within an operating battery

Data logged from operating a development battery within a test electric vehicle showed some cell voltage irregularities. An analysis method was developed to aid interpretation of this voltage data from multiple cells operating within the same module. The method is presented here for cells in a series-connected module, together with some analysis of its suitability for detecting relative cell balance and cell wear-out issues.
