By using flexible AC transmission system( FACTS) devices in the power system it is possible to control the voltage at the buses and the power flowing through the lines. Just introducing a FACTS device in the system will decrease the damping of the inter-area modes. To increase the damping a power oscillation damper (POD) is designed and applied in the control system. Designing the POD with the linearized residue technique or the Control Lyapunov Function will provide different results depending on the simulation.
