Reforming Education for Economic, Social Other Developments

Today, we are living in a very uneven world - top 1% rich people own 40% of the world wealth and top 10% rich people own over 80% of the world wealth. 60% world population (over 4 Billion) is poor. Poverty and hunger levels are highest in Africa. Can this be changed? Can we have a much better world? Can we have a prosperous Africa? The answers to these questions are YES as described in this paper. Although we have focused in Africa, the concept presented can be used for other parts of the world including Asia, Europe, South America and parts of North America. Africa is rich in resources. For example, just Zambia, Uganda or one fifth of Nigeria can feed the whole Africa if agriculture potential is fully exploited. Several African countries have other key resources like minerals (e.g. copper in Zambia). African population, dominated by youths, can be converted into an enormous valuable resource. Thus, there is no real reason why Africa should remain poor. All we need is some Major Paradigm Shifts and associated Educational Reform so that we can fully exploit all the resources and ensure Economic, Social, Cultural & other developments (including increased peace) and prosperity. In this paper we have proposed key Paradigm Shifts and associated Educational Reform needed to ensure development, eradicate poverty and hunger, and ensure prosperity by creating an enormous resource from the BOP (Base of the Pyramid People) and properly utilizing such resource.
