摘要

The transfer of our fast growing society from a carbon based to a low carbon based economy/production within thenext decades is the global megatrend which is discussed now for 15 years. The different reduction targets for CO2based on visions (minus 80 %) and experience from process development (minus 20 %). The minus 80 % targetcan only be achieved by a transfer of the global energy system. This is not in the influence area of the metallurgicalindustry. We have today a portfolio of technologies available to reduce the CO2 intensity further but withoutconsideration of the two limitations plant lifetime and carbon lean energy a successful transfer will not possible andevery company and country has it's own timeline for this process. The forced use of natural gas can act as a bridgetechnology for the transfer between the energy systems. HBI and DRI allows a broad flexibility for the EAF steelproduction route as well for the integrated BF/BOF steel production.
