1 This project illustrated the technical feasibility of deploying permanent open-path sensors for two application scenarios: - Pipeline explosion hazard warning 1.1 Provides rapid notification of a pipeline failure that could result in a catastrophic explosion; and 1.2 Pipeline non-urgent leak detection 2 Identifies intermittent fugitive leaks, leading to optimal maintenance and reduced emissions. 3 Recommendations 3.1 Evaluate in actual operating scenarios 3.2 Refine technology to meet purchase, installation, and operating costs acceptable to the operators.
