As a suburb district of Beijing,an international metropolis,Fangshan has a fairly good basis and conditions for urbanization and is taking the lead in the process of new urbanization.The achievements of Fangshan in new urbanization are indispensable from the series of measures it has developed by adapting to its own situations.Its innovative measures in terms of branding strategy,attraction of industrial projects,promotion of progress in projects,construction financing,government service awareness etc.can not only drive and lead the development of other districts and counties in Beijing but also provide some references for the choice of an urbanization path with Chinese characteristics and for the development of new urbanization in other areas in China.As a suburban district of the super-large capital city,Fangshan's urbanization is an indispensable part in Beijing's process of building a world-class city.In recent years,Fangshan District has been taking the Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents" as guidance,thoroughly implementing the scientific outlook on development and conscientiously delivering the strategic initiatives to meet the requirement of building a "humanistic Beijing,high-tech Beijing and green Beijing".In active response to the dual challenges imposed by the international financial crisis and the domestic industrial restructuring,and firmly seizing the opportunities brought by the series of major initiatives for maintaining growth launched by the central and Beijing governments,Fangshan adopted a development strategy of new urbanization.As a result,the District's economic situation has undergone substantial changes,and its main economic indicators have been doubled.Fangshan witnessed a leap forward in the speed of its development,which lays a solid foundation for the District to enter a stage of fast development.The achievements of Fangshan in new urbanization are indispensable from the fact that it has opened up a scientific path suited to their own development.With a series of brand new development initiatives,Fangshan has maintained a high growth rate and further consolidated its trend of fast development.This has helped the District to keep up with the average pace of development of the five suburb districts of Beijing,be well positioned in a new round of development of the capital city and improve its core competitiveness.
