Energy-efficient lighting is one of the key measures for addressing electricity price rise and climate change mitigation, and fluorescent lamps are expected to dominate the lighting market in Malaysia over the next several years. Lighting energy consumption always tends to be under-assessed. The research was carried out on Techno-Economical feasibility study of Corridor lighting fixture energy saving by using motion sensors. Lighting with motion sensors which controls dimming of the lamp has been proposed as one effective mode to reduce electrical consumption. The ability to dim the lights is an important feature in home lighting, corridors of office buildings, and it is also one way to extend the life of fluorescent lamps. The measurement was taken two (2) times per day to simulate the eight (8) office hours' duration. The tools used were UTS 136 motion detection sensor and Andelia Power Meter (ADM25S). Preliminary results show that approximately 35% of electrical consumption can be reduced by applying dimming motion sensors. The annual savings are estimated to be 250.0 kWh / in terms of energy, RM 4.44 / in terms of money, and 150.0 kg / in terms of carbon dioxide (CO) emissions. The return of investment (ROI) is estimated to be approximately 15 months and 10 days. Electricity consumption of the lighting before and after retrofitting was monitored to verify experimental energy savings. Results indicate that a reduction of 44% is achieved. After retrofitting of the lighting fixture, the annual savings estimated are 324.40 kWh / in terms of energy, RM8.44 / in terms of money and 201.13 / in terms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The ROI is estimated to be approximately 9 months and 5 days.
