The various metal films was deposited on the SAE9310 steel surface by DC magnetron sputtering, then the high current pulsed electron beam (HCPEB) irradiating was used to re-melting and mixing the alloy elements of surface to obtain a surface alloying layer.Several types of surface defects were found after irradiation, such as surface aggregation, eruption, micro-cracks and delamination.The generation mechanism and evolution with irradiation number of these defects were investigated based on the results from finite analysis and SEM.The results showed that selecting a proper energy density and increasing the irradiation number can eliminate the surface defects.
