In the traditional coking process, the raw gas is cooled by spraying ammonia, from which the heat could not be effectively recovered and utilized. In this paper, propose to use heat pipe for recovering sensible heat of raw gas.Using computational fluid dynamics method to establish a heat pipe riser in three-dimensional numerical model, calculate inlet/outlet temperature of the raw gas in heat pipe riser and compare to obtain the effective range of heat recovery due to avoid large amounts of coal tar precipitate out.On the basis of this method, carried out the experiment on the top of coke oven, from which the results are the same as the theoretical results. Therefore, it is shown that the method of using heat pipe to recovery the heat from raw gas is feasible.
