Extended During July 21-25 2010,a large range of heavy rain weather process occurred on the eastern side of the Tibetan Plateau affected by a plateau vortex.Northern Sichuan and southern Shanxi had a northeast-southwest oriented strong rainfall belt,and northwest of the Sichuan Basin was the heavy precipitation center.The total rainfall amount was more than 400 mm (Fig.1b).The plateau vortex movement is shown in Fig.1 a.It is clearly to see the plateau vortex formed over the eastern Tibetan Plateau from July 21 to July 23,and then it begins retrace back to the plateau in the afternoon on July 23.
