Although the stability of motorcycles in the low speed range is not as critical as in the high speed range, motorcycles with higher stability at lower speeds are preferable for beginners or older riders. Research into the weave vibration mode in the low speed range, which is strongly related to the stability of motorcycles, has indicated that steering torque during certain slalom running conditions is very small. In these cases, it might be possible to extract the motorcycle's characteristics, eliminating the influence of the rider's control. This paper reports that the characteristics of a slalom running simulation in such conditions are identical to weave mode characteristics that were initially extracted from eigenvalue analysis of the simulation model. This paper also describes the method to extract the weave mode from actual slalom running results as well as the details of the results.
