Considerations about thermal stress level evaluation methods

An important issue for all the managers of detention or rehabilitation institutions is to take measures in order to reduce the stress level of the inmates. Going further, one can observe that the stress level reduction is an important management action for private or official institution's representatives. Measures can be taken, but without evaluation there is no feed-back. This paper deals with an attempt to evaluate the stress level using noncontact thermal mapping and compares two different directions. One consists of facial thermal mapping and the other direction is about the hand thermal mapping, focusing on fingers. The authors present an Infrared measurement method based on the fact that there is no physical contact during the acquisition of the data and therefore no behavior alterations are involved.
