The rubber industry depends heavily upon insoluble sulfur(IS)for effective manufacturing of the complex composite rubber articles such as hoses, belts and tires.Commercially available insoluble sulfur otherwise known as polymeric sulfur is a metastable material,i.e.it isthermodynamically unstable at room temperature and at many rubber processing temperatures.Consequently, great care is required in processing compounds containing insoluble sulfur such that the polymeric sulfur does not convert to rhombic or conventional sulfur.Further, even small amounts of sulfur conversion during processing will limit commercially viable insoluble sulfur loadings.Magic Sulfur is a material meeting the criteria of the Ideal Insoluble Sulfur.Consequently, handling and formulation limitations associated with the thermal stability of conventional polymeric sulfur do not apply, yet vulcanization and product performance characteristics are equivalent to those of rhombic or conventional polymeric sulfur.
