Different jurisdictions may implement different requirements. – International Standards (e.g. ISO, IEC) – National Standards or Regulations (e.g. U.S. OSHA) – Regional Standards or Regulations (e.g. MN Dept. of Labor & Industry) – Local Standards or Regulations (e.g. Chicago City Electrical Code) – Company Standards or Regulations may also apply (e.g. GM, Ford). Regardless of jurisdiction, an expectation exists that equipment can be operated safely – This, in turn, requires that risk assessment has been performed, a reduction strategy has been implemented.
