The Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test was employed to investigate the colour discrimination capability of seniors with and without cataract surgery under the illumination from a pair of linear fluorescent lamps with similar chromaticity, "CON" and "MOD". The seniors with cataract surgery were found to have better colour discrimination ability than those without the surgery under two lamp types. Similar overall colour discrimination capability was found between the two lamp types. For those with cataract surgery, MOD was able to improve the red-green colour discrimination compared to CON, which can be considered in terms of higher red-green opponent-process signals produced by MOD. Various colour rendition metrics were studied, most of which failed to make prediction or correctly order the colour discrimination capability of the two lamp types.
