Electroslag remelting (ESR) refining is an important and widely used process in H13 die steel production. Improving H13 die steel cleanliness can increase its thermal cracking performance, which will increase service life of steel products~([1]). Steel cleanliness is closely related to control of oxygen content and inclusions in steel~([2,3]). The total oxygen content in steel is a common and indirect index to represent steel cleanliness~([4]). Medina et al.~([5]) and Wang et al.~([6]) reported that the oxygen content in steel increased after ESR of the electrode with low oxygen content. Zhou et al.~([7]) reported that, regardless of the oxygen content level in consumable electrode, the oxygen contents in ESR ingots were in the range of 15-30 ppm.
