Advanced chemical sensors for cadmium detection based on chalcogenide glasses have been developed for continuous or quasi-continuous in situ monitoring of industrial atmospheric particles containing heavy-metals. Analytical performance of the sensors and a laboratory prototype of the monitoring system are presented.
