Based on a shell/mold interfacial heat flux model in mold with the considerations of steel solidification characteristics in mushy zone,the deformation behavior of solidifying shell,dynamic distributions of mo1d flux film and air gap behavior in the interfacial gap,a two-dimensional transient thermal-mechanical coupling finite element model was developed to simulate the interracial thermal behavior of peritectic steel solidifying in slab continuous casting mold,and the formation characteristics of air gap between mold copper plate and solidifying shell under the different casting conditions,such as casting speed,mold taper,molten steel superheat,and mold flux solidification temperature were described.
