In order to solve the problem of using life cycle cost analysis for economic analysis of preventive maintenance strategies at home and abroad.Based on the idea of dynamic program in this text,the local optimization method of successive selection for choosing preventive maintenance strategies was used.The calculation analysis model of the method used the shortest lives and residual values instead of the whole life cycle.Through a numerical example,the maintenance costs,user costs and benefits values of three preventive maintenance strategies of micro surfacing,micro overlay and thin overlay were calculated; Then we compared the benefit-cost ratio of the three preventive maintenance strategies and the best preventive maintenance strategy would be chosen.In the pavement life time,every preventive maintenance decisions would be used this method to achieve maximum economic efficiency.The case study proved the operability and utility to use this approach and it could help pavement agency to choose the best PM strategy.
