1. Smart plasma antennas are excellent RFID readers: (1) They are compact and lightweight. The basic dimensions are a wavelength in diameter and height for a cylindrical design. (2) They can steer in the azimuthal and vertical directions for a cylindrical design. (3) The center line frequency is reconfigurable (4) The beamwidth and bandwidth are reconfigurable (5) Single antenna lobes or multilobes can be created. (6) Reconfiguration using Fabry-Perot-Etalon Effects can take place in microseconds. (7) The plasma that steers and shapes the reader antenna beam acts as a shield to EMI.
