Radish(Raphanus sativus L.) vernalization is an important stage and has great relationship with carbohydrate metabolism. Leaves (source) and fleshy taproot (sink) carbohydrate levels were investigated between the vernalization (4 ° temperature treatment for 1 month: WVR) and non-vernalization (without low temperature treatment: NVR) radish. The results showed that during the “two-leaf” stage of WVR, glucose content ranked the first, followed by fructose, then was sucrose, and raffinose; At the begin of “broken belly” stage, the content of all kinds of soluble sugar in WVR declined to the valley, and all soluble sugar concentration peaked at the end of “broken belly” stage, then declined. The primary sugars accumulated in root were mainly glucose, fructose and sucrose, while raffinose was nearly zero. Compared with the NVR, the total sugar and all kinds of soluble sugar in leaves and flashy taproot were lower in WVR. The accumulation of soluble carbohydrate may promoted radish bolting after vernalization finished, but in the resistant-bolting radish may be low.
