Acoustic Emission for Leakage Monitoring under Tank Floor of Internal Floating Roof Storage Tank

This paper deals with condition monitoring of leakage under tank floor using Acoustic Emission (AE). A Storage tank diameter of 26 m, internal floating roof type, was monitored using the 24 channels AE system with sensor frequencies of 30 and 150 kHz. Different varying loads were implemented during inspection. Data obtained from AE activities were analyzed AE data and leakage locations. Results showed the condition of tank floor and leakage area from the analyzed AE parameters. After AE detection, the leakage area was confirmed by the surface testing method.
