The dynamic approach has been widely applied to measure the velocity of accident vehicles, while it is difficult to perform sometimes due to the shortage of parameters. In this paper, the algorithm is proposed to measure the velocity of the accident vehicle based on morphology of broken vehicle windshield glass. A relationship model between the velocity of accident vehicle and objects' parameters which include structure, quality and speed before collision was established by image processing technology. Five different types of collision objects, in different velocities are selected to simulate the collision process. The results show that, the concentration area of broken vehicle windshield glass is decided by the velocity and quality of the collision objects, the morphology of broken vehicle windshield glass is related to the velocity, quality and structure of the collision objects. Good idea is given to reconstruct the velocity of the vehicle velocity based on the morphology of broken glass.
