Heterodyne laser detection has much more higher sensitivity than direct detection. It has great advantage in the detection and recognition of long range non-cooperative target. In order to realize the non-touch velocity measurement of diffuse reflection object. The continuous wave laser detection has been adopted in the paper for the sake of velocity measurement of rotatable target in the laboratory. The main factors that influence the velocity accuracy have been found and modified via the analysis of error source. At the same time, the method of amplitude modulation has been used for the velocity calibration. Ifs results can be considered as the real velocity of the rotatable object. Then the velocity results from the two methods above are compared with each other. The results show that: The probability which relative errors are lower than 2% is 99. 25% when the target rotated clockwise, while the probability is 98. 5% for the target rotated anticlockwise. The absolute errors are less than 0. 05m/s; the relative errors has increscent trend and the absolute errors has shrunken trend while increase the rotatable velocity; the dynamic range of the measured velocity is from 0. 05m/s to 16m/s due to the restriction of the target's velocity.
