Recognition System for Pointer Meters Reading Based on ARM-LINUX

In this paper, a low-cost, widelyapplicated, portable meter recognition system is developed, based on ARM9 embedded system solutions, with an ordinary USB camera to achieve real-time meter image acquisition and LCD display reading results. In the system, the software based on Qtopia and OpenCV is designed with a series of algorithms including the maximum gray, iterative threshold segmentation, improved Hilditch thinning and the Hough transform linear detection to extract the pointer of meters image.
