The role of European funding in the economic developed of possible future European Member States

The cooperation principle is not only promoted among Member States but also among all European countries. Moreover, the use of European funding as an incentive for the regional development promotes the actual regional cohesion between economically developed and less economically developed regions. The general objective of the article is to prove that the cooperation principle within the implementation of European projects between Member States and Non-Member States represents a qualitative leap in the regional convergence. Methodologically, the paper analyzes a case of best practices in the business area of two cross-border regions: Timis County and South Banat District. As a result, a quantification of the costs and benefits has been made through qualitative result indicators as well as by analyzing the two aspects by comparison.
