The volume of waste Fiber Reinforced Plastic, FRP, has increased every year. Almost all of the waste FRP is incinerated or disposed of in a landfill. In this study, a new recycling system involving the use of waste FRP to produce advanced nanoporous materials is proposed. An attrition type mill was used to separate the glass fibers in FRP from the other fine particles of matrix (resin) and fillers (CaC03, etc.) The separation rate was affected by the mechanical processing conditions, and it was found that the roughness of the inside wall of the chamber is an important factor for increasing the separation rate. The milled powder was subsequently coated with waste A1(0H)3 nanoparticles, from which nanoporous composites compacts were formed by dry pressing. The flexural strength of these compacts was increased with a steam curing treatment.
