Short- and Long-Term Results of High-Tone External Muscle Stimulation in Symptomatic Diabetic and Uremic Peripheral Polyneuropathy in End-Stage Renal Disease

摘要

High-tone external muscle stimulation (HTEMS), an innovative electro-medical approach, can ameliorate the discomfort and pain associated with both diabetic and uremic PPN in MHD patients (N=40). This treatment is effective not only in the short-term but could be followed for at least 12 months. HTEMS could be a valuable approach in the treatment of pain and neuropathic discomfort in ESRD patients, without noteworthy side effects.
