A municipal wastewater treatment plant uses Cyclic Activated Sludge System (CASS) process to make COD, ammonia nitrogen of the effluent reaching the national standard and total nitrogen hovering near primary B standard. This experiment keeps the total cycle remains unchanged while without changing the structures and increasing investment in circumstances. The municipal wastewater treatment plant just is handled by adjusting the running time of the original water to 30 min in the anaerobic atmosphere and 90 min in aeration with traditional SBR process. It improves the operation process to enhance the remove effectiveness of nitrogen. The results showed that the total nitrogen content of the municipal sewage effluent which is treated with the SBR process was significantly lower, ranging between 2 mg/L and 5 mg/L after transformation. The treatment effect keeps stable, in addition, the quality indicators of nitrogen in effluent could achieve primary A standard according to the national "urban wastewater treatment plant emission standards GB18918-2002".
