Employing bio-contact oxidation to treat sewage, the impact of HRT (hydraulic retention time), hydraulic load and volume load on removing capacity of organism in the system were observe in this study. The results indicated that the removing rate of COD (chemical oxygen demand) in bio-contact oxidation was able to satisfy substandard 1 of urban drainage standard 2 in the "integrated wastewater discharge standard" (GB8978-1996) under this condition: the temperature 17-21 °C, DO (dissolved oxygen) 2.5-3.5 mg/L, pH 6.57.5. Meantime, when HRT stayed at about 9h, hydraulic load kept at 0.66-0.91 m3/(m2·d), and the volume load was 810 kg/(m3.d), the treating effect of urban wastewater by bio-contact oxidation was better.
