A dual-rotor axial flux-switching hybrid excitation wind generator (AFHESG) is introduced and developed, and its structure characteristics and operating principle are analyzed. Some electromagnetic characteristics and the noload flux distributions of the AFHESG are obtained by 3-D finite element method (FEM). Based on the magnetic field analysis, the no-load flux-linkage and EMF of the armature windings at the rated speed of 400 rpm are computed. The inductances of the armature windings and the field windings are calculated by using the flux-linkage method. The no-load field-control properties are analyzed when the field current varied. FEA results show that the flux-linkage of the armature windings can be adjusted between -106.2-655.3 mWb by regulating the field current, and a good fieldcontrol capability is obtained for AFHESG.
