摘要

Living organisms in wetlands receiving arsenic (As)-contaminated wastewater may potentially become ecotoxic to wildlife. Arsenic-laden organisms in aquatic systems are potential food sources for predators. Through food chains As can be accumulated, transformed, and biomagnified to reach high tissue concentrations. It is important to determine such environmental impacts when treatment wetlands are used for the cleanup of As-contaminated waste water. Fish can serve as effective bioindicators for water contamination and the ecotoxicity. In particular, fish with different feeding strategies provide valuable insight into As biomagnification at different trophic levels.
