- Friction spot welding is a reliable process capable of joining materials in similar and dissimilar joint configuration without keyhole. - Most of mechanical properties of the welds produced by friction spot welding is higher than the value recommended by AWS D17.2, "Specification for Resistance Welding for Aerospace Applications". - In similar joint configuration, no defects caused by melting since the welding temperature of about 80% melting temperature. - No additional weight since refill FSSW requires no filler metals.
