Features of CBM (coalbed methane) exploration and development in china

摘要

Coalbed methane (CBM) resources, irrespective of the abundance in China, have been explored and developed to an extremely low extent. Combining case study of key CBM bearing basin, this paper is aimed at the CBM (Coal-bed Methane) exploration and development characters in China. Studies show the features of CBM exploration and development, and point out that CBM exploration and development characters in China should be focus on large scale coal bearing basin, aimed at high production through single well. The principle to be followed for CBM exploration and development should be the picking of the low-hanging fruits first, Seismic takes the lead before well placement. Also keep schemed orientations for exploration and development, and integration of gas production with coal mining. Meanwhile, take attentions to seismic processing, individual-hole appraisal and well-group exploitation.
