Characteristics of liner thickness on formation and penetration properties of Collinear Explosively Formed Projectiles (CEFP) are examined by numerical and experimental methods.It reaches the conclusion that a well formed CEFP could be generated when liner thickness ratio(N) is in the range of 0.75to 2.5.A large aspect ratio(L/D) penetrator or two separation EFPs can be formed once initiation used by CEFP warhead.Separation trend of CEFP grows with the increase of liner thickness ratio.Compared to the EFP warhead, the penetration depth of CEFP against to #45 steel target can be increased by 50%.Simulation results are validated through penetration experiment and both results are in good agreement.The results act as an important reference for preliminary design studies of CEFP warheads in engineering.
