The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of soil microbes of habitats on the cuttings rooting of Huperzia serrata and its mechanism. The cuttings of H. serrata were planted on the Soil I of primary habitat, the Soil II inoculated endophytic fungi and root surface fungi, the soil Ⅲ autoclaved, and then rooting rate, activities of PPO and POD, flavonoids and Huperzine A(Hup A) contents were determined. Compared with the H.serrata that were planted on Soil III, Soil I and Soil II were found to increase the rooting rale by 10% and 16%. That microbes could increase content of catechin, chlorogenic acid and IAA (indole-3-acetic acid) during rooting, and is an important factor which increased the rooting rate.
