The airflow field has decisive effect on how to manage the system to be in good performance. Moreover, it is significant for energy saving and environmental protection. The three dimensional air-flow fields in the V-type heat exchanger was studied by computational fluid dynamics(CFD). In the model, the fin-tube heat exchanger was looked at a porous medium. Numerical results were testified by the experimental data. The results show that the face velocity distribution along the heat exchanger height is non-uniform while uniform along the length direction. It is found such phenomenon is directly determined by the wind path length along different heat exchanger direction. It is also found that the air flow maldistribution will cause directly the heat stress convergence on some points of fins, which is harmful to the fin using life. It is proposed that more attention should be paid on how to make the airflow fields more uniform in order to save more energy.
