The Environment Effect Embodied in Export and Import of China's Industry: An Analysis Based on the Industrial Data

摘要

Based on the data of 15 industries during 1996 - 2008, by using pollution content, pollution intensity and the environment trade terms as the indicators, this paper provides empirical evidence on the environment effect embodied in export and import of China. The results demonstrate that although the industrial unit pollutants emission was on the decrease, the pollution had been transferred to China more and more via trade as the export, especially pollution-intensive industries' export increased in a high speed. To reduce the pollution transferred from China's trade partners, we must further improve the trade composition, and strengthen the environmental regulations on pollution-intensive products.
