Effects of the Grain for Green Project on Grain Production in Ansai County

摘要

There has been a decrease in area of arable land,total sown area and area of arable land per capita since theimplementation of grain for green project in Ansai County.However, the grain yield per unit area and the total grainoutput have tended to increase owing to favorable measurestaken, such as adjustment of planting structure, increase ofinvestment and improvement of technologies. No great changeshave occurred to the food per capita, which remains to beabove 350 kg (namely the subsistence level), and the area ofarable land per capital is still higher than the area of cultivatedland per capita in China. Thus, no negative impacts have beenimposed upon food security of Ansai County by the grain forgreen project.
