The flexible support system making up with anchor rod, concrete spraying steel fiber and anchor cable is adopted in the underground powerhouse of Pushihe hydropower station. Through large quantity of prototype observation data, and based on rock mass spatial deformation and stress effect theory, the characteristics of surrounding rock deformation and reinforced anchor rod stress are analyzed in the paper. It is concluded that the support measures is not so effective, and deformation and stress of some parts are both larger than those in similar underground engineering. The factors affecting surrounding rock deformation and anchor rod stress mainly include excavation mode, excavation intensity, rock mass integrality and time effect. After finishing excavation, large part of surrounding rock is considered to be stable, but some is still deforming, considering the discontinuous characteristics of rock masses, should be monitored continually.
