In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) underwater acoustic (UWA) communications, carrier frequency offset (CFO) compensation is essential, for CFO causes the loss of orthogonally between subcarriers. In this paper, an improved time-domain scheme with a feedback and a new frequency-domain scheme are proposed for OFDM communications. The performance of the two methods and several previous CFO techniques are compared. In addition, we simulate the OFDM UWA communication system with two schemes in the multipath-spread channel and get the conclusion that improved time-domain scheme is fit for OFDM UWA communications.
