Characteristics of the Alkali-feldspar Miarolitic Granite Geomorphological Landscapes of the Taimu Mountain in Fujian Province, China

The Taimu Mountain is located in Qinyu Town of Fuding City, northeast Fujian Province,China. The Fuding Peak,the main peak of the mountain, is 917.3m above sea level. The mountain is characterized by densely distributed peak clusters and stone eggs. These construct a unique granite mountain landform. The study shows that the landform-forming rock is the alkali-feldspar miarolitic granite (type-A) of the central phase of the granite body formed in the late Yanshan. The NEE-and NNW-oriented faults,fissures and joints are the main geological structural systems that control the size and morphology of the large mountain bodies such as peak clusters in the area. Weathering,rainfall erosion and gravitational collapse are the main exogenetic geological processes contributing to the formation of the peak clusters and stone eggs. In general,the landform of the Taimu Mountain is in an early mature evolutionary stage.
