Model of Knowledge Management Based on Virtual Enterprise

By analyzing the characteristics of dynamic alliance based on learning-oriented Virtual enterprise, this paper presents researches on knowledge management for virtual enterprises (VE). A virtual enterprise is a temporary alliance of member enterprises (MEs) formed to exploit fast-changing opportunities. During the knowledge management of a virtual enterprise, its constituent member enterprises, which are geographically distributed and organizationally independent, collaborate with information exchange to each other to execute the whole business process (BP) of the virtual enterprise. With the aim of addressing knowledge management (KM) for virtual enterprises, this paper develops a framework for virtual enterprise KM. From the viewpoint of KM processes, integral research on business process modeling with leading enterprise, analyzing, and managing for VE is carried out. Both the member enterprise KM model and the model of VE knowledge management are established. The former provides the functional basis of the involved enterprise KM, while the latter provides KM operation for VE. Through such tow models, the explanation of KM for VE is achieved.
