Microsoft ESP is a visual simulation platform that brings immersive games-based technology to training and learning, decision support, and research and development modeling for government and commercial organizations. In order to accomplish these scenarios, the ability to define the underlying physics models of the vehicles simulated is paramount to achieving the desired fidelity of the training. Additionally, existing, validated physics engines are able to interface with the ESP platform via extensive interfaces. Details about how to structure the vehicle physics models using the native ESP simulation are provided, along with an overview of how to interface existing vehicle simulations programmatically with the platform. The focus of this paper is primarily on the simulation of aircraft, as this ability is the central focus and highest fidelity component of ESP 1.0.
