摘要

IPST at Georgia Tech has developed an off-line method and an on-line sensor for colloidal micro-stickies and colloidal micro-pitch that has been extensively validated over the last few years and has been licensed by Eka Chemicals. Through several mill trials the device has been able to predict deposit related runnability problems, including sheet breaks and large holes. This led to a study looking at runnability issues at paper machines producing linerboard, newsprint with integrated TMP and DIP furnish and newsprint from just DIP to see how well the TOC measurements could be related to runnability. The principal objective of this work is to report on how the measurement of colloidal organics can be used to manage deposit related issues and introduce the nano-scale measurement techniques.
