Kazakhstan has inherited from USSR a series of different radiation-hazardous objects and contaminated sites in all parts of the country, as a legacy of the cold war. The paper presents the key sources representing the radiation risks of concern; nuclear weapons tests, PNEs, uranium mining and tailing, as well as scale from oil and gas production.
