Enhanced Net-to-Gross Understanding for Horizontal-Development Drilling in Complex Mature Reservoirs

Determining net-to-gross in complex, mature reservoirs can prove challenging. Mixed lithologies, changes in sand quality and variations in oil-water contacts can, and do, cause uncertainties in the interpretation of conventional LWD measurements. This paper demonstrates how vibration tolerant LWD Magnetic Resonance (MR) measurements were used in the Troll field to address these conventional uncertainties.
