With the stable and rapid development of Chinese economy, the shortage of land resources becomes more and more obvious with each passing day. The total area of land in China accounts for 1/15 of the world, taking the third place, but per capita land resources are 29% of the average level in the world. It is necessary to change from the former extensive mode in using the land to an intensive and economical usage of land under the idea of harmonious development. On the basis of summarizing the problem of "large-sized dwelling houses" in the housing market, the paper conducts a regression analysis of per capita floor area of residential building and per capita disposable income of urban inhabitant. Then the paper reaches its conclusion that the floor area of residential building per household should be 80~100 square meters under China's current economic development level. Meanwhile, the paper brings forward that various methods, such as programming, revenue, propaganda and design etc should be used to regulate and control the structure of supply and demand in the housing market, thus to make it develop healthily and orderly.
