摘要

A novel way in applying image compression error measurement algorithm using Peak Signal-to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is implemented under MATLAB environment. In this new approach, the structural degradation due to damage change in component composition or the presence of foreign bodies appearing in an image taken for a specific structure is regarded as the noise in an originally good image of the same structure. Such unorthodox approach, which employs MSE and PSNR, has resulted in an excellent way in tracing and modeling damage in structures with ability to predict effects of further damage on components. This resulted in the ability to quality control of produced components and structural composition improvement through the modified image processing assessment algorithm (CPSNR).
