Multi-Pollutant Control Project at Cholla Unit 4

The 380 MW Unit 4 at the Cholla Station, which is owned by PacifiCorp and operated by Arizona Public Service, is the site of an ongoing full-scale multi-pollutant control project featuring several unique features. The goals of the project are to simultaneously implement modifications to reduce emissions of particulate and SO_2 while providing improved inherent mercury control and capability for further mercury reductions. This paper will provide an update on the progress of the project, including the replacement of a hot-side electrostatic precipitator with a pulse-jet fabric filter, installation of a wet lime FGD system utilizing inhibited oxidation, significant upgrades to the existing lime reagent preparation and waste slurry disposal systems, and conversion of the existing stack to accommodate operation in the "wet stack" mode. Performance test data will be incorporated and discussed.
